Who are we?
Bibby and Barth are a performing arts duo based in Oslo with a passion for absurd theatre. They both have their backgrounds and education in physical theatre and clowning, and work mainly with devising theatre. Together they share competence in singing (opera and jazz), japanese butoh dance, immersive and site-specific theatre. They got to know each other eight years ago, and started exploring drag together in 2020. Their interest started from exploring the maximalist expressions in drag, and that is also found in clown. They work from the starting point that they identify as «bio queens» meaning women who present as drag queens and who explore a feminine drag esthetic. With their characters Louise and Éloïse, Bibby and Barth contribute to emphasise the role of bio queens in the Norwegian drag community.
Hvem er vi?
Bibby & Barth er en scenekunst-duo basert i Oslo med lidenskap for absurd fysisk teater. Begge har utdanning innen fysisk teater og klovning, og jobber utøvende og skapende. Til sammen har de kompetanse innen opera og jazz sang, japansk butoh dans, og stedsspesifikk teater. Duoen ble kjent for åtte år siden og begynte å utforske drag sammen i 2020. De ble opptatt av å utforske det maksimalistiske uttrykket man finner i drag og som man også finner i klovn. De jobber ut fra et utgangspunkt om at de indentifiserer seg som «bio queens» dvs. kvinner som spiller drag queens og utforsker det feminine drag-uttrykket, og som er underrepresentert i Norge. Med karakterene Louise og Eloïse bidrar Bibby & Barth til å fremheve rollen til bio queens i det norske drag-miljøet.
